How Does Silicone Scar Care Work?
Scar tissue develops as the skin repairs itself after an injury, surgery or burn. As a scar matures, its appearance can change over time. Silicone-based scar care is a non-invasive approach designed to support scar management after the skin has fully healed.
Eska-Med® offers two silicone-based formats: a transparent Scar Gel and a self-adhesive Silicone Scar Sheet. Both are designed for use on fully healed skin, but they offer different application methods to suit different needs and daily routines.
1. Helps Maintain Skin Hydration
Silicone forms a protective layer over the scar that helps reduce moisture loss from the skin's surface. Maintaining skin hydration is an important part of silicone-based scar care and supports the natural maturation of scar tissue.
Results vary from person to person and may depend on factors such as the type, age, size and location of the scar.
2. Forms a Protective Layer
When applied correctly, the Scar Gel forms a thin, flexible silicone film over the scar. The Silicone Scar Sheet covers the scar with a soft, self-adhesive silicone layer.
The gel is transparent and may be convenient for contoured or moving areas, while the sheet provides a ready-made covering that can be removed, cleaned and reused according to its Instructions for Use.
3. Choose the Format That Fits Your Routine
Eska-Med® Scar Gel
The transparent, silicone-based gel forms a flexible film on the skin. It may be convenient for areas where a sheet is difficult to position, such as certain contours or moving areas of the body.
Eska-Med® Silicone Scar Sheet
The soft, self-adhesive silicone sheet covers the scar with a protective layer. It is designed to be washable and reusable in accordance with the product's Instructions for Use.

4. Start Only After the Skin Has Fully Healed
Silicone scar care products should only be applied once the skin has fully healed. Do not use them on open, broken, infected or irritated skin, or directly over fresh stitches.
Before use, make sure the skin is clean and dry and follow the instructions, precautions and recommended application schedule for your specific product.
5. Consistent Use Matters
Scar maturation takes time. Follow the product-specific Instructions for Use and use the product consistently over the recommended period. Do not exceed the recommended application frequency or wearing time.
Individual results vary, and no particular outcome or degree of scar improvement can be guaranteed.
